Why not dip a toe in, as we explore the itineraries one by one over the next few weeks? Remember, these specially curated itineraries are designed to be enjoyed off the peg, or customised to fit your every wish or whim. Without further ado, here's our epic 14-day Sicilian Sunsets.
#1. Sicilian Sunsets: Day One
Arrive at Birgu Marina in the evening to get settled in. Perhaps take an evening stroll under the stars and enjoy a fresh Red Mullet pasta at waterside Don Berto restaurant. Back on the boat, raise a glass of bubbly to toast the Sunseeker luxury lifestyle.
Days 2-5
At first light, cruise from Malta for the Sicilian coast and the honey-hued seaside city of Syracuse. Take your time over the next few days to explore the largest and most fascinating city of the ancient world.
Admire ancient archaeological ruins amid fragrant citrus orchards. Follow winding medieval lanes down to charming cafés serving delectable delights within dazzling baroque piazzas with a storied history.
Just a short walk up from your berthing spot, passing through medieval lanes, will lead you to the Doric Temple of Apollo, hailed as the world's second oldest Greek temple, and which offers incredible views.
Follow the lure of live music to the historic food market held every Monday to Saturday morning in the old Syracusan quarter of Ortygia. Prepare your palate for mouthwatering Sicilian produce, cuisine and local delicacies.
Pickles, herbs and spices. Bread, infused olive oils and tomato paste. Hot chilli peppers, cheeses and freshly squeezed blood-red oranges. Daily sea-fresh catches of the day and traditionally cured meats. A calorie-tormenting variety of homemade granita and ice cream flavours. Ortygia Market is a foodies paradise.
Days 6-9
Next we take a short cruise to Taormina, an incredibly picturesque vacation spot on Sicily's east coast, backdropped by the volcanic vista of Mount Etna. On this leg of the cruise, Azure Ultra has encountered hundreds of dolphins in separate pods – so fingers crossed.
Perhaps enjoy cocktails in Piazza Aprille 1X or put your feet up at Giardino Pubblico, fragrant, flower filled gardens overlooking the Ionic Coast.
As Taormina has no marina, we sail past white sandy beaches through the Strait of Messina. With the secluded Aeolian Islands and the southern Italian Calabria region only a short cruise away, we'll berth for the next few nights at Milazzo.
A lovely medieval port, Milazzo is famous for its castle nestled in the old town, beautiful and varied neighbourhoods, and Venus’s Pool – Sicily’s ‘blue lagoon’.
If you fancy seeing magical Taormina by night, speak to your captain. We can arrange return transfers and accommodation in the most beautiful city in all Sicily, which enchanted film stars like Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Sophia Loren.
Days 10-13
Today our sailing charter heads west for scenery blessed Cefalù, known for its timeless quayside, awesome beaches, dreamy sunsets, charming medieval streets, welcoming bars and cinematic townscape, as immortalised in the classic film Cinema Paradiso.
Out of all of Sicily's seaside villages, Cefalù's beaches are arguably the most popular among Sicilians and remain a prized yacht vacation destination, in addition to offering outstanding scuba diving opportunities in the turquoise waters.
Day 14
Our luxury Mediterranean yacht adventure draws to a close as we depart Cefalù at first light, cruising back to Birgu Harbour where you’ll disembark after a magical two weeks.
Join us again next week, for another great Sunseeker charter itinerary from our Mediterranean Medley.
